About Trafficking In America
The International Labour Organization estimates that there are 40.3 million victims of human trafficking globally. While the statistics are unclear how deep the problem is in the United States, there are estimated to be more than 300,000 victims of human trafficking in Texas alone. Traffickers are no respecter of persons and often look to exploit vulnerabilities. Those being trafficked include young children, teenagers, men, women and LGBTQ+ and can be domestic citizens or foreign nationals. Trafficking can look or happen in a variety of ways including through social media, residential homes, illicit massage parlors, romantic relationships or gang activity to name a few.
