“I was 11 when I was abused and sold into slavery. It wasn’t long after that I became pregnant. I was terrified. I knew if my traffickers found out, they would hurt me and force me to give up my baby. They did find out and they were going to force me to have an abortion. I was so sad and finally decided I had to escape, but I didn’t have anywhere to go. The Unlikely Heroes team found me searching for food and sick with an infection and high fever. They rushed me to a clinic and helped me get the medical treatment I desperately needed. The doctors told me the infection was so bad that me and the baby could have died. Now, I’m safe and I’m not scared anymore.”

Amy and her baby are on the road to recovery and looking forward to beginning a life of freedom.
