“All my life, I tried to find ways to help my struggling family. We were so poor and I was desperate to help. Traffickers found me because they knew I was vulnerable and they could use my family’s situation against me. I was forced to dance and men took what they wanted from my body. I remember how much they sold me for—just 2,000 pesos. It was at that moment that I thought I was worth nothing. I was just about to be sold again when I was rescued in a raid operation and taken to an Unlikely Heroes home. Now, I know I’m not worthless.”
